Moving Costs
Moving Costs in Singapore
The cost depends on your home size, the items being moved, and any add-on services. As a rough guide, a 2-room HDB move starts from around $300 to $500, while a 4 or 5-room flat can range from $600 to over $1,000. At Rodex Movers, we price based on your actual items with no hidden fees. Learn more about our house moving services, or use our instant house moving price calculator for a quick estimate, and we will follow up with an official quote within one working day.
A typical 2-room HDB has around 5 to 10 boxes, one to two beds, a small sofa, a dining table, and basic appliances. Costs generally start from $300 to $500 depending on floor level and access. Use our house moving price calculator for an accurate figure based on your items.
A 3-room HDB flat typically involves around 10 to 20 boxes, two to three beds, a sofa set, a dining table, full kitchen appliances, and assorted furniture. Costs generally range from $450 to $700. The final price will vary based on your exact items, floor level, lift access, and any add-on services. Use our house moving calculator for a more accurate estimate.
A 4-room HDB flat is one of the most common move sizes we handle at Rodex. Expect around 20 to 30 boxes, three to four beds, a full sofa set, dining furniture, wardrobes, and multiple kitchen appliances. Costs typically range from $600 to $900. Head to our moving price calculator to get an estimate based on your actual items.
A 5-room HDB flat move is a sizeable job, often requiring multiple lorry trips. With 30 or more boxes, multiple beds, large wardrobes, full appliances, and living and dining furniture, costs can range from $800 to $1,200 or more. The exact figure depends on your items, any specialty pieces like a piano, and your floor access. Get a personalised estimate using our instant house moving calculator.
Condo moves are generally comparable to HDB moves of a similar room count, though longer carry distances or tight access can add to costs. Landed homes with multiple floors often require a full-day move. For the most accurate quote, use our calculator or contact us for a site survey.
Office moving costs depend on the number of workstations, chairs, shelving units, servers, monitors, and boxes of documents. A small office of 5 to 10 workstations may start from $500 to $800, while larger offices with specialist equipment or multiple floors can go significantly higher. Use our office moving price calculator for an instant estimate.
Several factors influence the final price of your move:
- Total volume and type of items
- Floor level and lift access
- Carry distance from your unit to the lorry
- Whether a shuttle lorry is needed for restricted access areas
- Add-on services such as packing, storage, or disposal
At Rodex Movers, we provide fixed, transparent pricing. What you see in your quote is what you pay. We carry out a site survey before finalising your quote to ensure there are no surprises on moving day. The only time additional charges may apply is if you add services or items that were not included in the original scope.
Yes, affordable options exist, though the cheapest is not always the best value. Budget movers may have hidden fees or inconsistent service quality. Rodex Movers offers competitive mid-tier pricing with full transparency. For a fair comparison, read our breakdown of the cheapest movers in Singapore here.
Some moving companies may charge additional fees for moves on weekends or public holidays. However, Rodex Movers does not apply surcharges based on the day of your move. Instead, moving costs are determined by factors such as the volume of items, accessibility, and any special moving needs, as reflected in the Rodex Movers moving price calculator.
DIY vs Professional
DIY vs Professional Movers
DIY moving may seem cheaper upfront, but the hidden costs can add up quickly. Renting a lorry, buying packing materials, taking time off work, and the risk of damage to your belongings or injury to yourself all factor in. Professional movers like Rodex handle everything from dismantling furniture to transport and reassembly, often saving you more time and stress than the price difference suggests.
Grab works for small deliveries but is not suited for a full house move. Most vehicles that you book via Grab are not equipped for furniture dismantling, heavy item handling, or protective wrapping. For a proper move involving beds, wardrobes, and appliances, a trained moving team is the better option. Rodex Movers offers full house moving services with an instant online quote.
Yes, lorry rental is an option if you are comfortable loading, securing, and transporting items yourself. Rodex Movers also offers lorry rental with a driver for those who want the convenience of a vehicle without a full moving crew. However, if your move involves furniture dismantling, heavy appliances, or fragile items, a full house moving service is the safer and more efficient choice.
Professional movers bring trained manpower, proper equipment, packing materials, and experience with all item types. DIY gives you more control but requires physical effort and carries the risk of damage or injury. For anything beyond a few boxes, professional movers generally deliver better value and peace of mind.
Choosing a Mover
Choosing a Trusted Mover
Look for transparent pricing, verifiable reviews, and a solid track record. Rodex Movers has completed over 15,000 moves since 2006, holds BizSafe accreditation, and has served clients including MINDEF and the Singapore Police Force. We have also been featured on The Smart Local and SassyMama. Read our guide to the best house movers in Singapore for a broader comparison.
Before committing to a mover, ask whether the price includes packing materials, furniture dismantling, and reassembly. Ask if there are any additional charges for floor level, staircase, or long carry distances. Confirm whether the company carries insurance, what their rescheduling policy is, and how they handle damage claims. At Rodex Movers, all of this is addressed upfront.
Be cautious of movers who give very low quotes over the phone without asking about your items, charge hidden fees on moving day, have very few reviews or a very short operating history, demand full payment upfront, or cannot provide a written quote. Always get a detailed written quote before signing anything.
There are several reputable movers in Singapore worth considering depending on your budget and needs. Rodex Movers is consistently ranked among the top options for value, reliability, and transparent pricing. For an independent comparison of the top picks, read our full guide to the best house movers in Singapore.
Singapore does not have a mandatory licensing body specifically for movers. However, reputable companies often hold accreditations such as BizSafe, which demonstrates compliance with workplace safety standards. Rodex Movers is BizSafe accredited and has been in operation since 2006. When evaluating a mover, look for verifiable credentials, a track record of completed moves, and reviews on platforms like Google.
Packing & Add-ons
Packing, Special Items & Add-on Services
Yes. Rodex Movers offers professional packing and unpacking services as an add-on to any house move. Our team will pack all your belongings before moving day and unpack and arrange everything at your new home. This is especially useful for busy households or anyone who wants the entire move handled in a single day.
Yes. All packing materials are included in your Rodex Movers moving package. This covers cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, paper padding, and protective wrapping for furniture. You do not need to source these yourself.
Yes. Furniture dismantling and reassembly is included as standard in every house move by Rodex Movers. This covers bed frames, wardrobes, dining tables, and similar items. Everything is reassembled and placed at your new home at no extra charge.
Start with items you use the least, such as seasonal clothing, books, decorative pieces, and items stored in storage rooms. Leave daily essentials like toiletries, a change of clothes, and bedding to the last so you have access to them right up until moving day. Our 7-step moving checklist covers the full packing timeline in detail. For fragile items like glassware and ceramics, read our guide on how to pack fragile items, and for kitchen-specific packing tips, see our kitchen packing guide.
Yes. Rodex Movers offers a furniture disposal service for unwanted or bulky items you do not wish to bring to your new home. Just let us know in advance what needs to go, and we will arrange it as part of your move. An additional charge applies depending on the volume and type of items.
For standard household and office items, Rodex Movers is fully equipped. For specialised industrial or commercial machinery, we recommend contacting us directly to discuss your requirements before booking.
Piano moving costs at Rodex Movers start from $100 for a digital piano, $150 for an upright piano, $350 for a baby grand, and $880 for a grand piano. The final price depends on floor level, lift access, carry distance, and whether a shuttle lorry is needed. Pianos require specialist equipment and a trained team. For full details on what is included and how the process works, visit our piano movers Singapore page.
Yes. Rodex Movers can handle large household appliances including refrigerators and washing machines as part of your house move. These are included in your moving quote based on size. For aircon units, note that uninstallation and reinstallation is a technical job that requires a licensed aircon technician and is not included in a standard moving service. We recommend arranging this separately with an aircon service provider.
There are certain items that movers are generally unable to transport for safety or legal reasons. These typically include hazardous materials such as gas cylinders, flammable liquids, paint, and chemicals. Plants are also difficult to move as they are fragile and can be damaged in a closed lorry. Perishable food items and valuables such as cash or jewellery are best transported personally. If you are unsure whether a specific item can be included in your move, contact us and we will advise accordingly.
Rodex Movers offers secure short-term and long-term storage solutions at convenient facilities in Tuas. This is ideal if your new home is not ready yet or you need to store items temporarily between moves. We can coordinate storage as part of your moving package for a seamless experience.
Insurance
Insurance & Liability
Rodex Movers carries public liability insurance as standard. We also offer optional goods-in-transit insurance for added protection, which is particularly recommended if you are moving high value or fragile items. Let us know when you enquire and we will include this in your package.
In over 15,000 moves completed since 2006, damages at Rodex are extremely rare. Our team uses protective wrapping, proper equipment, and trained handling procedures to minimise the risk. If you have opted for optional insurance and damage does occur, we will assist you in submitting a claim and the insurance provider will handle compensation accordingly.
Not necessarily. Rodex Movers offers optional goods-in-transit insurance that you can add to your package at the time of booking. If you already hold a home contents policy, it is worth checking whether it extends to items in transit. When in doubt, speak to us at the time of enquiry and we will help you determine what coverage is appropriate for your move.
Standard public liability insurance covers general risks associated with the move, such as accidental damage caused by the moving team. It typically does not cover pre-existing damage, items not declared to the mover, or damage resulting from inherent fragility without proper packing. Optional goods-in-transit insurance provides broader protection. For specific coverage questions, contact Rodex Movers and we will walk you through the options.
Booking & Moving Day
Planning Your Move, Booking & Moving Day
Booking with Rodex Movers is straightforward:
- Use our house moving price calculator to get an instant estimate
- Submit your enquiry and we will follow up within one working day with an official quote
- We may arrange a site survey to confirm the final price
- Pay a 40% deposit to secure your moving date

We recommend booking at least three to four weeks ahead, especially for weekends and month-end dates. The earlier you book, the more flexibility you have on timing. For urgent moves, contact us and we will check what is available.
Most standard HDB moves take three to four hours from start to finish, covering dismantling, loading, transport, unloading, and reassembly. Larger flats with many items may take a full day across multiple lorry trips. Our team will give you a realistic timeframe when you enquire.
For HDB flats, you generally do not need prior approval, but you should notify your town council if you need to use a service lift. For condominiums, most management offices require you to book a moving slot in advance and pay a refundable deposit. It is important to check with your building management before confirming your moving date.
Subject to availability, Rodex Movers may be able to accommodate urgent moves. Contact us via WhatsApp or our contact page as early in the day as possible and we will advise on what slots are available. For the best experience, we always recommend booking in advance.
For a 3-room flat, a team of two to three movers is typically sufficient. For a 4-room flat, especially one with larger furniture or a higher floor level, three to four movers is standard. Rodex Movers assigns the right team size based on the scope of your move, so you do not need to worry about working this out yourself.
Yes. We recommend that you or a trusted representative are present throughout the move to provide instructions, handle last-minute decisions, and confirm that everything is placed correctly at your new home.
Tipping is not expected but is always appreciated if the team went above and beyond. Providing drinks or snacks on moving day is also a thoughtful gesture. If you are happy with the service, leaving a Google review for your mover is a great way to show your support.
